Garden City and Hewlett Harbor - A Reprise of a Long Island Adventure
SATURDAY MORNING UPDATE: The Start Time has been moved to 10:25 to accommodate a large contingent taking the LIRR from Brooklyn, Atlantic Terminal. We will leave quickly upon their arrival
FRIDAY LATE MORNING UPDATE: Well NYC got hit by a surprise storm yesterday in terms of intensity. Most of the remnants should be gone by Saturday and the ride is still on though we are starting later, now meeting at 10:15. Check back after 7:30 Saturday morning to confirm. I was lucky as it was warmer and the storm was primarily rain on Shelter, but I have been in touch with folks and am monitoring the recovery. I have moved the start time back to 10:15 to allow the day to warm up a bit more tomorrow. If ride is running late, I can cut some miles, but bring your lights just in case.
The prior versions of this ride were fun-filled successes for all, and we received multiple requests to schedule it again.
So, come join us for a fun, fairly flat 45 mile or so ride that combines two of our non-north shore favorite Long Island locations, Garden City and Hewlett Harbor. This may be a ride of a thousand turns, but you will enjoy most of them, as once we arrive at our various destinations, we meander about getting a flavor for the area (though because it gets dark early, this ride will have less go in circles in Garden City than some versions).
In order to help with planning, please register for the ride. Bring the usual including snacks, hydration, lunch or money for lunch and a fun inquisitive attitude.
