Intro to Mountain Biking at Blue Mtn Reservation, Peekskill NY
Just about an Hour's ride away on the Metro-North in Peekskill is the Blue Mountain Reservation, a 1,538 acre park that contains miles of amazing forest roads and mountain biking trails. these range from beginner level, all the way up to expert. The trails are wonderfully marked, and easy to follow. If you have a mountain bike, even an older one, and have never ridden off road, or if you have and just want to explore a beautiful state reservation with amazing scenery, this is the trip for you! The trails we will be riding are all beginner level, with easy to manage hills, and easy, but fun terrain.
We will be taking the 8:43AM train leaving from Grand Central, and arriving in Peekskill at 9:48. Its a short 1.7 mile ride to the park, and then we can explore and ride the trails. On the way back, we will be stopping across the street from the train station, for lunch (and if you want) a few beers at the award winning Peekskill Brewery. then we will be catching the train back to Grand Central, arriving back in the city at 4:42pm. The round trip ticket is 25.50, and you will need to have a MTA Bike Pass.
Equipment you MUST have for this trip:
A Mountain Bike. NO Commuters, No Road Bikes, NO Hybrids.
2 Spare Tubes and Pump, or if running tubeless, a plug kit and Pump.
Water, and snacks.
