Chihuly at Bronx Botanical
WEATHER UPDATE SATURDAY 6:30AM: The rain seems to be stopping much earlier than originally forecast so the ride is ON. It may leave a tad late, but I am shooting for the original departure time of 10AM.
If you have not seen Chihuly at the Bronx Botanical - the exhibit ends this month! So join this ride and spend a few hours at the Botanical Gardens enjoying it and all the other beautiful fall flowers still enjoying this summer weather!
The ride will start at Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn and pick people up at stops along the way (either side of the Pulaski, Queensborough or Willis Avenue bridges - let leaders know where you plan to join).
We will include Roosevelt Island on this ride (entering just north of the Queensborough Bridge on the Queens side) and a stop at a sculpture garden just a bit further north on Vernon Avenue where there is a food-fair so we will stop there for picnic lunch.
Bring your own, or buy there.
We will then cross the Queensborough and head up the east side - seeing Roosevelt Island from the East River Greenway north of 82nd before crossing the Willis Avenue Bridge and winding up / ending the ride at the Bronx Botanical Gardens.
There we can take in Chihuly and catch Metro North across the street from the Gardens (or subway not too far away) back to the start or you can ride if you so choose ( there will be no Point-Drop-Sweep back from Bronx ). PLEASE REGISTER so we can coordinate and make sure you don't miss the group.
If some are interested, perhaps we will take in Arthur Avenue before returning and grab some Mamma Mia early dinner before hopping the train back.
Goal is to arrive at lunch stop between 12-1 and Bronx Botanical Garden between 3-4 so that you can enjoy for at least 2-3 hours.
