Share the joy of bicycling

Become a 5BBC Leader -  we are working on a new model for leader development. Our 2020 Pilot was held on October 25th of last year and a great success. 

If you'd like to learn more about our 2021 New and Improved Leadership  class, baed on years of history and the two pilots - which we ran in 2019 for the first time with great success and have had a second in 2020 - leveraging zoom to make sure we maintain social distance during the class portion. - e-mail leadership@5bbc.org to see our spring class starting April 28th. 4 zoom sessions 7-9pm Wednesdays and 3 on-road practicum rides.

Hopefully once the pandemic ends we can resume our historical approach to training leaders described below.

Do you enjoy interacting with people, exploring and creating new bike routes, promoting bicycling or do you want a great way to give back to the Club and the bicycling community? Or maybe you just want to see more 5BBC rides. You don't have to be a strong rider or a great mechanic. Mostly you just need the desire and we teach you what you need to know.

The 5BBC Leadership Course will teach you how to organize and run both day and weekend trips.
 

You will learn:

• map reading
• ride planning
• cycling safety
• group dynamics
• decision-making
• developing your leadership style
• many other skills that go into making yourself a leader

The course, taught by experienced 5BBC leaders, combines classroom instruction with practical riding experience. You do not have to be a strong or fast rider or bicycle repair guru to take the course. That is not what the course is about – it is about leadership. It is strongly recommended that you be able to ride for the better part of a day and be comfortable riding with a group. If you have not ridden with us before, you should definitely go on several 5BBC rides to become familiar with how typical Club rides take place. (If you are not a member of the 5BBC and wish to take the class, you must become a member.)
