CALLING ALL 5BBC LEADERS - WE NEED YOU TO LEAD A RIDE.

New Rides. Old Favorites. One from the cue sheet library that catches your eye.
Happy Face Rides. Moderate Rides. Quick Spin Light and Quick Spin.
Urban Rides [with our without potholes], Rural Rides, or rides in the 'Burbs.
Long rides. Short rides. Day rides. Night rides.
Ride to a location. Ride to food. Ride just for the fun or riding.

WE NEED YOU. Don't let Fritz and Geoff sit by the internet, alone in the dark, waiting for a ride to come in. Please look at the 5BBC ride schedule, pick a date that looks sparse, and schedule a ride to lead. If you have not led in a while, now is the time. Leaders lead - lead a ride.

David Meltzer
Veep - 5BBC

Dear 5BBC - There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes of every ride that we do. This is the essential work of the 5BBC Elected Board and various appointed positions. Without these positions being filled, the Club cannot operate properly. We currently have the need for a few good people to work as Day Trips Coordinator, Weekend Trips Coordinator and as Membership Coordinator. These positions can be filled by one person or by a team working together.

WHAT IS REQUIRED; You must be organized and able to work with minimal supervision. Having a good team spirit is essential. The positions will only take several hours per week of your time, and there are monthly Board Meetings.

If you are in the 5BBC, we know that cycling is your pleasure and possibly your passion. If you have the skills to fill these positions, we need you ! Please contact David MEL Meltzer at bklynmel1@gmail.com if you can pitch in. If there are other areas where you have talents that can serve the club, please let MEL know as well. WE NEED YOU !

The EPIC RIDE is a benefit ride for the Greenway Initiative. This year, the ride will be held on July 27th. There are various starting locations, but the full route traces the waterfront from Greenpoint to Far Rockaway - a 40 mile excursion. There will be rest areas along the way, and an after-party in the Rockaways following the event. There are still time to sign up for the event, as well as volunteer marshal opportunities. For information here is their website: http://www.brooklyngreenway.org/event/the-epic-ride/

Hey 5BBCers. Hanging in the City for the July 4th Weekend? We have now added a ride for Saturday. Rock Rock Rockaway Taco ride will leave from Grand Army Plaza on July 5th at 10:00. We will ride about 34 miles for some of the best tacos EVER. Hope that you can join us. See the web posting for more details. David MEL Meltzer and Eliz Peters are leading this shindig.

Hey Gang - I am the new Leader of the ride as Alfredo is unavailable. I need more beauty sleep than 'Fredo, so I will be moving the start of the ride back an hour. The former start was at the 8:30 Ferry Boat. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL NOW BE TAKING THE 9:30 FERRY ACROSS. PLEASE BE AT THE FERRY TERMINAL AT 9:15 TO ALLOW THE NICE DOGGIES TO SNIFF YOUR BIKE.

The other change is that we will be going to Killmeyer's for Lunch ! You know that I love this place at the far end of Staten Island. We can park our bikes in the beer garden and all sit outside. So, come do the Staten Island Perimeter with us.

One of the helpful features of the new website is the ability of riders to register for a ride. By registering, you help the leaders have a better sense on attendance and whether they need to make any adjustments to the ride. You also give the leaders the opportunity to contact you via email in the event of a change in the ride or if it has to be cancelled, postponed or perhaps moved to a different start time/location. The more riders that use this feature the more useful it will become. It only takes a few seconds to register for a ride. All you need to do is click on the ride you want to attend and then click again on the register tab. Easy!!! Please give it a try in advance of your next ride. Thank you.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Turtle Ride Series has been postponed until 2015. However, most of the rides are still on the schedule, and welcome all turtles and all rabbits
