July Fourth Fireworks -- Jersey Side
We'll be ringing around the Hudson, over hills and dales, up along the Manhattan side of the greenway to the GW, and then down backside, to Jersey City's July Fourth waterfront extravaganza concert and fireworks at Exchange Place.
The itinerary: Following part of the "Harbor Ring Route," we'll make stops at the Fireman's Park (and bike trail), in Fort Lee, the James Braddock Park lake, and Bull's Ferry Road (an almost vertical descent that only the most skilled will ride; the rest will walk or use an alternate route), the Hudson Waterfront Bike Path, Weehawken Waterfront Park, and to an Irish pub, Carpe Diem,in Hoboken for a late lunch. Our final destination is, of course, the concert and fireworks (there are events and venues happening all afternoon and evening, along with food and drink kiosks), at Exchange Place, with headliner Snoop Dogg (who we haven't heard from in a while). Valet bike parking is provided courtesy of Bike JC (sponsors of the June 2 Ward Ride), allowing you ample worry-free time to explore all the events.
Meet up is 2 PM at Chelsea Piers, but those who would like to join up with us along the way either at the Greenway at 72, 96, the coffee stops, or the GW, email the leaders. Coffee stops: The Chipped Cup (148/49th & Bway); Eggty 8 Cafe (Main Street, Fort Lee), though these may be closed, so we'll just do a ride by.
