BIKE REPAIR COURSES

It's all about the bike. With our classes, you can learn how to buy a bike, how to keep it in good condition, and how to fix problems on the road.

BIKE COURSE RIDE:
RIDE, FIX FLATS, EAT

Date: Saturday, April 25
Time: 10:00 AM
Place: Columbus Circle

After riding from Columbus Circle to Dyckman Park mostly along bike paths, we will teach people how to fix flats, patch tires, and - special bonus! - how to adjust the seat and handlebar heights (for those bikes that have adjustable handlebars). Rain cancels; call 917 301 0707 if in doubt. Bring lunch or money for lunch. Meet at Columbus Circle at 10:00 AM. Leaders: Stephen Jackel and Dan Finton

Bike Repair Manual by Chris Sidwells, published in 2004 by DK publishing, 375 Hudson St., New York, NY 10014. The book is available at the 5BBC.

Rodale Press (1-800-666-2806, the publishers of Bicycling Magazine) has excellent reference materials: Bicycling Tips for Quick and Easy Tune-ups and Bicycling Magazine's Complete Guide to Bicycle Maintenance and Repair by Jim Langley.

Jim Langley also wrote what may be the best online source for basic bike repair and maintenance. Best of all, it's free.

Anyone interested in bike repairs should also take a look at Sheldon Brown's articles.
